Privacy Policy

Last updated October 2026

This policy explains how numberlore ("we") handles data. We have kept the site deliberately simple: there are no accounts, no payments and no newsletter, and the calculators run entirely in your browser.

Who is responsible

The data controller is:

What we process

  • Calculator inputs. The names and dates you type into any calculator are processed in your browser to compute your numbers. They are not sent to or stored on our servers. So you do not have to retype them as you move between calculators, they are kept temporarily in your browser's session storage and are cleared automatically when you close the tab. If you use Copy link on the compatibility calculator, those names and dates are placed in the link's URL fragment so the recipient's browser can rebuild the reading. Anyone with that link can read the values, and the link may remain in browser or messaging history.
  • Language preference. When you explicitly choose a language, we store it for one year in the numberlore_locale cookie. It contains only the language code and is used on later visits when the URL does not specify a language. You can change your choice using the language links or delete the cookie in your browser. Without a saved choice, we use your browser's language preferences.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider and Cloudflare process technical data such as your IP address and browser type to deliver the site securely and reliably (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). See "Hosting and CDN" below.
  • Analytics. If enabled, we use self-hosted, cookieless analytics (Umami) that records aggregated, anonymous usage such as page views and referrers. It sets no cookies, builds no cross-site profiles and does not identify you.
  • Contact. If you email us, we process your message and address solely to respond.

Hosting and CDN

The site runs on a server in Germany at our hosting provider, netcup GmbH, Emmy-Noether-Straße 10, 76131 Karlsruhe, Germany. In front of it sits Cloudflare's content delivery network: every page request passes through Cloudflare, Inc., 101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. Both providers process data on our behalf (processors, Art. 28 GDPR).

  • Which data. Your IP address and the technical details of the request: the address requested, the time, browser type and operating system, and the referring page. If a connection to numberlore fails, your browser may also send an error report to Cloudflare (Network Error Logging). It contains the address concerned, the kind of error and your IP address.
  • Why. To deliver the site quickly, fend off attacks and detect outages. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the site securely and reliably (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Transfer to the USA. Cloudflare is a US company and may process data in the United States. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses apply in addition.

What we do not do

We do not sell data, run advertising trackers, or store your birth data or name on our servers.

How long we keep data

Calculator inputs never leave your browser and are cleared when you close the tab, so we hold nothing to delete on our side. Server logs are kept only briefly by our hosting provider for security and then discarded. How long Cloudflare keeps data is set out in its privacy policy. Email you send us is retained only as long as needed to handle your request.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you may request access, rectification, erasure, restriction or portability of your data, and object to processing. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Austria, the Datenschutzbehörde).

Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves; the date above reflects the latest version.
